Inauguration of the Rwanda High Commission in Islamabad Marks a New Chapter in existing Bilateral Relations

In a significant diplomatic development, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe, formally inaugurated the Rwandan High Commission in Islamabad on Tuesday morning. The ceremony was graced by the Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar, who attended as the Chief Guest.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, federal ministers, media representatives, and diplomats from several African countries, underscoring the growing importance of Pakistan-Africa relations.

Ambassador Nduhungirehe, accompanied by Rwandan High Commissioner Harerimana Fatou, toured the newly established High Commission, visiting various sections and viewing a photographic exhibition that highlighted Rwanda’s cultural heritage and diplomatic journey.

In her remarks, Ambassador Harerimana Fatou, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, welcomed the dignitaries and expressed her gratitude for the warm support from the Government of Pakistan.

In a symbolic gesture, both Ambassador Nduhungirehe and Pakistan’s Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, penned their remarks in the comment book displayed at the High Commission, reflecting on the significance of the occasion and their shared vision for stronger bilateral ties.

Following the inauguration, the two dignitaries held a joint press conference. Ambassador Nduhungirehe expressed satisfaction with his visit, calling it a meaningful step toward enhancing political and economic cooperation.

Responding to questions on trade, he emphasized the untapped potential between Rwanda and Pakistan, and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with both the government and private sector in Pakistan to boost trade volume and deepen collaboration.

The Rwandan Foreign Minister’s landmark trip to Pakistan—the first in history—coincides with the opening of embassies in both countries, pointing to a promising and strengthened partnership ahead..
