Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that if the United States’ goal is to deprive Tehran of what he said were its nuclear rights, Tehran will not back down from “any of our rights.”
Araghchi was speaking in Doha a day ahead of another round of planned nuclear talks between Iran and the US in Oman.
Iran has agreed to hold a fourth round of indirect nuclear talks with the United States on Sunday in Oman, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported on Friday, citing a member of the Iranian team.
A source familiar with the talks told Al Arabiya English that they expect US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to travel to Oman on Sunday for the fourth round. “As in the past, we expect both direct and indirect discussions,” the source said.
The latest round of talks, initially scheduled for May 3 in Rome, was postponed, with mediator Oman citing “logistical reasons.”
“Following a proposal by the Omani foreign minister to hold the fourth round of talks on Sunday, Tehran has announced its agreement,” Tasnim quoted the unnamed member of Iran’s delegation as saying.
