Islamabad – The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Islamabad held a dignified celebration marking the National Day of Egypt, to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the 23rd of July Revolution, a landmark in Egypt’s modern history that laid the foundation for the country’s independence and progress.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain attended the event as chief guest, extended congratulations to the government and people of Egypt on their National Day, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strong bilateral ties established since 1948.

He emphasized enhancing cooperation in agriculture, seed research, and climate technology, and appreciated Egypt’s medical support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides are advancing cultural, educational, and trade collaborations, with a focus on food security, water resources, and agriculture.
Tanveer further proposed that Pakistan and Egypt jointly initiate projects in the African region to promote trade and development. Emphasis was also placed on reinforcing educational, cultural, and people-to-people ties.
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the friendship between the two nations, noting the presence of skilled human resources and significant investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Pakistan, welcomed attendees and diolomats expressing heartfelt gratitude for their presence and continued friendship. He described the occasion not only as a celebration of Egypt’s proud heritage but also as a reflection of the strong and enduring ties between Egypt and Pakistan.
Egypt and Pakistan are bound by ancient civilizations, shared values, and a mutual vision for peace, development, and cooperation,” Ambassador Abdelhamid remarked. He highlighted the long-standing support both countries have extended to each other in international forums and through regional and global challenges.
Ambassador Dr. Abdelhamid highlighted the strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan, marked by recent high-level engagements and expanded cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, and defense. He expressed hope for deeper ties in IT, industry, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
He also celebrated the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, showcasing over 100,000 artifacts, including King Tutankhamun’s complete collection. Additionally, he noted Egypt’s nomination of Professor Khaled El-Enany for UNESCO Director-General, backed by the African Union, Arab League, and other countries.

Looking toward the future, the Ambassador reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan through people-to-people contacts and international cooperation. “Let us renew our shared commitment to mutual understanding and the enduring friendship between our two great nations,” he said.
The proceedings commenced with the harmonious echoes of both countries national anthems, followed by a dignified cake-cutting ceremony—underscoring the warm, time-tested relations and mutual respect between Egypt and Pakistan.
The event was attended by senior politicians notably Raja Zafar ul Haq, PMLN, Kamran Tessori, Governor Sindh, ambassadors from various Arab, African and European countries, senior govt officials, religious leaders, businessman, and members of civil society, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic nature of Pakistan-Egypt bilateral relations.

The evening ended with a warm tribute from the Ambassador to the government and people of Pakistan for their continued support and hospitality, followed by a lavish dinner hosted by the Egyptian Embassy. Dr Ihab Abdelhamid concluded his speech with the words: “Egypt-Pakistan Friendship — Zindabad!”
