Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said early on Tuesday.
MBS and Aoun “discussed the latest developments concerning Lebanon and the region and the efforts being exerted in this regard. They also reviewed relations between the Kingdom and Lebanon, exploring ways to support and enhance them,” SPA reported.
At the end of his visit to the Kingdom, Aoun expressed his appreciation to MBS and the Kingdom for the warm welcome saying this reflects the depth of the ties between both countries.
“Our talks have laid a solid foundation for a new phase in the relations that we agreed to activate and develop in all fields,” Aoun said on X before he headed to Cairo to participate in an Arab League summit on Gaza.
Aoun arrived in Riyadh on Monday in his first official trip abroad after being elected as president in January.
MBS received Aoun at Al-Yamamah Palace where an official reception ceremony was held in his honor.
The Lebanese president had said upon his arrival in the Kingdom that he was looking forward to reviving bilateral ties between Beirut and Riyadh.
“I look forward with great hope to talks I will have with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman this evening,” Aoun said in comments published on X.
He voiced hopes that these talks would “pave the way” for future visits where bilateral agreements could be signed between the two countries.
