Qatar’s ruling emir on Monday received a Hamas delegation headed by senior official Khalil al-Hayya to discuss the Gaza ceasefire talks, the emir’s office said amid hopes that a deal was near.
The emir’s office added that Sheikh Tamim and US President Joe Biden discussed in a phone call on Monday joint mediation efforts to end the war in Gaza.
It said that US President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and the outgoing Biden administration’s envoy Brett McGurk also discussed developments in efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza with the Qatari emir in Doha on Monday.
